You knooooow what I like

Sometimes, I love my Tivo. Currently collected in my "Tivo Suggestions" folder:

- Top Ten Hawaiian Beaches

- Lionheart (starring Jean-Claude Van Damme; "A French Foreign Legion deserter enters a U.S. arena of bare-knuckle brawls run by a woman")

- Countdown with Keith Olbermann, which it records every day and which I delete every day, because my attention span only has eyes for Jon Stewart

- Steak Paradise!

It's like it RECORDS my SOUL.

Lionheart was awesome!! I saw it with Phil at the Santa Cruz Drive-In. So good. Especially because they yell LIONHEART!!!! a lot.

I know what you mean. Our Tivo still records Spin City for us every now and then, despite 3 thumbs down. What about us says Spin City? I don't get it. It has one or two others like that too, can't remember what at the moment.

Not only do I not have Tivo but I also do not have cable! My daughters are pretty sure we are the only people in the world without either. Of course they are not the ones paying for their college education...

Well, James, I really can't deny the awesomeness of a Saturday night at the drive-in with you, Phil, and the bare-knuckle brawls run by a woman (!). So you've got me there.

Heather, the thought of you and Erik curled up and enjoying a nice twenty-two minutes with Michael J. Fox is just improbable enough to warm the cockles of my heart. You know you love Spin City.

My Tivo also thinks I like awards shows (true), Chinese soap operas, and Rachael Ray, whom I finally had to give three thumbs down, even though I kind of like her. It would NOT STOP taping 30 Minute Meals.

Xerxes, you and my parents must be in the same camp: my parents promptly got cable as soon as my brother and I moved out. I actually feel kind of appalled with myself that I have both, but...it's how I roll, I guess. And, actually, I think I watch less TV now that I have Tivo--I'm not really a channel-surfer, so unless I'm watching the same four episodes of 30 Rock over and over, I pretty much get in and get out and call it good.

Anyway, your daughters may not exactly thank you some day for their cable-free status, but I'm sure they have a healthy respect for a decent book. :)

hey Liz--you might actually like Keith Oberman. He is not quite as funny as Jon, but he has some great things to say! You know you can adjust the settings on Tivo to not have it record shows it thinks you might like. Paul got sick of it recording lame shows that we had no interest in, so we turned that setting off. It still records random things in the wee hours of the morning that never pop up on our list. I cannot figure that one out!

Allllll! Online! Yay. Did your dad put you up to this?

I guess I *could* turn off the suggestions, but then I'd miss the hilarity of the Chinese soap operas, wouldn't I?
